As we’re only doing call outs at the moment I thought I’d use my time wisely and give something back. Just had this email, roll on the 31st March!

We have now suspended all non-essential operations, but please be assured that our dedicated employees are continuing to work hard to ensure a safe, secure and reliable electricity supply for all customers throughout the coronavirus outbreak. As an essential service provider, we are extremely grateful for their hard work and support at this difficult time.

Only the following essential works will continue, under strict safety protocols. If you see us outside your home or if we have to visit your property during the coronavirus emergency it is because we need to ensure you have power and that we reduce the risk of any future loss of energy supply. The work we do keeps you safe, warm and connected to the loved ones you cannot visit.

Power cuts – We will continue to prioritise emergency, unplanned power cuts and do everything we can to restore power as soon as possible. Throughout this period, our priority remains maintaining the safety of our staff and the public while keeping electricity flowing. Despite the impact of this unprecedented event, operations in our Control Centre, Contact Centres and field teams continue.

Safety-related incidents - We will respond to incidents to ensure the safety of the network and public safety where defects with equipment are identified or urgent tree cutting work is required.

Vital inspections and maintenance - We will continue to inspect equipment to quickly identify any safety issues. Routine maintenance will continue only where it is necessary to ensure the safety of the network and our staff working on the network and only where no access to customer premises is required. We will avoid switching customers off in order to complete these works wherever possible.

Street light faults – We will respond to these only in the limited circumstances where there is a public safety issue.

Critical connections work – The majority of connections work will be postponed and rearranged with customers. Connections will only continue where the work provides support to key service providers to the COVID-19 outbreak e.g. care homes, hospitals and other health care facilities, food shops and wholesalers, food production, telecoms and broadband.

MESSAGE FROM THE ROBERTS & CO TEAM
Following the now critical advice to stay at home, last night, we had to make the very difficult decision to close our business until such point in the future it is seen by our government to be safe to continue again. We need to protect you, the vulnerable and ourselves from this awful virus.
Please read through the below to understand how we intend to keep us all safe while continuing to support our customers old and new.

NON ESSENTIAL WORKS
No new non essential works will be undertaken. We will contact all our customers with existing bookings in the coming days. Non essential works will be rescheduled or cancelled.

EMERGENCY WORKS
Please be assured that we will still be supporting our existing customers along with the wider local community by accepting emergency callouts and breakdowns. We will not be charging our regular out of hours fees for this. Any emergency work will be chargeable at our standard rates only. All call outs can only happen with stringent prevention measures in place by both parties to ensure safety and prevent infection.
If you require our emergency help but you are now facing extreme financial difficulties, please call us and we can discuss how we can still help. We will leave no vulnerable person without the ability to look after themselves in their own home.

Please stay safe and look after one and other.
